Social Studies
We finished studying Native Americans of Texas and the students made a book as the culminating activity with information and pictures about these tribes: Caddo, Jumano, Comanche, and Karankawa. We are now learning about explorers who came to Texas such as Cabeza de Vaca and Coronado, to name a few.
Math
We are learning about fractions. We have reviewed how to identify and write fractions, and now we are talking about equivalent fractions. The math homework is changing in that it will be mostly problem solving wtih each given skill that the students are learning in class. So, please look for that change beginning next week.
Reading and Writing
The students will be conferencing with me about his/her feature article. Once we have completed that part, a final copy will be written for a grade.
We also took a practice STAAR Writing Benchmark for 2 days this week. The students will recieve the grades once I receive them from the people in the district who will grade them.
Science
We have finished our unit on Weather . The students learned about types of weather, clouds, and using their senses to describe weather. We will be getting into Earth Science next. We will learn about types of soil and the best kinds for certain plants. Also, the topic of organic and inorganic soils will be discussed too.
